Attic Insulation

When installing insulation, it can generally  be blown-in or batting insulation and can range from R-30 to R-49.

Installing insulation in attic prevents water vapor from seeping in and eroding your walls. It also slows down heat buildup in your attic, which can cause the shingles on your roof to swell and crack or cause the plywood on your deck to soften.

Wall Insulation

When installing insulation in walls, blown-in fiberglass, cellulose or spray foam insulation can be used in existing . Batt insulation is preferably used in new construction or open walls.  Wall insulation is used to reduce heat loss through a cavity wall by filling the air space with material that holds back heat transfer. This immobilizes the air within the cavity (air is still the actual insulator), preventing convection, and can substantially reduce space heating costs.

Crawlspace Insulation

When installing insulation in a crawl space we use batting insulation, preferably kraft. Insulation in crawlspace helps maintain your entire home’s energy efficiency. Without insulation, heat and cool air are easily lost through the floor. Insulation also helps to preserve the air quality and reduce energy costs, and stops a cold draft coming from your floors.

Removal Insulation

For a DIY project in a 1,500 Square Foot attic insulation removal can take between 6-18 hours. The time greatly depends on the conditions of the attic. Your availability, your speed in a cramped space, the weather, the type of insulation, the accessibility through the attic, and amount of insulation being removed and whether or not there is debris present in the attic can affect the time it takes to get all the attic insulation removed. It is best to hire a professional to remove your insulation because you need proper equipment and attire. Insulation usually carries a lot of rodent feces therefor it is best to be safe and make sure you do not come in contact with removing insulation to take care of your health.
